Dutch Biocatalysis Symposium (BioCatNL-2021)
Welcome to the 3rd BiocatNL symposium organised by the working group Applied Biocatalysis of the Dutch Biotechnology Society (NBV). Biocatalysis is an active field of research in academic research groups and biotechnology companies in the Netherlands. To promote interactions of professionals in this field and to inform a broader audience, the symposium will showcase current research across several academic research groups and a biotechnology company in the Netherlands.
The programme consists of lectures from prominent academic group leaders and young researchers. Furthermore, there will be a lecture from the company DSM.
Young researchers (PhD students) are invited to give a pitch talk on their research. From the pitch-talk applications, 8 presenters will be selected.
13:00 Dr. Mirjam Kabel & Peicheng Sun (Wageningen University), New findings with fungal lytic polysaccharide monooxygenases
13:35 Dr. Clemens Mayer (University of Groningen), Finding needles in haystacks - engineering biocatalysts by phenotypic selections
14:10 break 30 min
14:40 Dr. Hugo Brasselet (Delft University of Technology), Recent insights of the use of the photoactivated decarboxylase from Chlorella variabilis
15:05 Yiming Guo (University of Groningen), Engineering oxidases for valorization of plant biomass
15:30 Dr. Eman Abdelraheem (University of Amsterdam), Engineering of cutinases to enable surface hydrolysis and characterization of polyester copolymers
15:55 break 30 min
16:25 Pitches (8 × 4 minutes talks by early career researchers)
17:00 Dr. René de Jong (DSM), Protein engineering & design in industry
17:45 drinks & snacks = borrel
