Marcel Wubbolts Wins Zilveren Zandloper 2025
In recognition of the great contributions to the Dutch biotechnology scene throughout his career, Marcel has been awarded with the Zilveren Zandloper innovation in biotechnology award - succeeding 2023 winner Cindy Gerhardt and 2024 education winner Michiel Michels.
With a long career that started in biocatalysis and led through CTO roles at DSM as well as Corbion Marcel has been a key player in biotech innovation in the Netherlands. In his current role at Vivici he is among the frontrunners in sustainable protein production through precisionfermentation - a position that fully reflects Marcel's passion for developing effective and sustainable solutions of global challenges in, amongst others, nutrition.
Congratulations Marcel with this well-deserved award, and we were proud to also feature you as a keynote speaker at NBC2025! Also a big thanks to BioTech Delft for making the award possible, and of course to the members of the jury and all NBV members that submitted nominations! Next year, we will be looking for a top educator in biotechnology again - so you may already start thinking on who to nominate for 2026!
