Dirk-Jan Scheffers wins Zilveren Zandloper Award
Dirk-Jan Scheffers, professor at the University of Groningen, received the Zilveren Zandloper Award for his role as program director of the Life Science & Technology bachelor's program.
Scheffers received the prize for his efforts to set up an attractive and completely new Life Sciences & Technology program. And with success; 61 students started the curriculum after the official launch in 2020. In the words of the jury: “Schffers' special commitment and his vision on inter- and multidisciplinary education, management and organizational capacity have been essential for the current LST course that trains students in modern biotechnology. Scheffers has a natural ability to bring disciplines together and create enthusiasm.”
The prize, consisting of a Silver Hourglass statue and a cash prize of 2,500 euros, was presented by NBV chairman Maria Barbosa.
