The board of the NBV received substantial funds from the Stichting Biotechnology Nederland to invest in the coming years in activities aimed at young biotech professionals and students to raise the number of young members (35 years and younger). Study associations at the Hanzehogeschool (Groningen), Van Hall Larenstein (Leeuwarden), Wageningen University, Delft/Leiden University and Radboud University were approached to find out how we best can get in touch with master students in biotechnology and related fields. Board members of some of the associations attended, on invitation of the board of NBV, the NBC in Ede. At the NBC, the second career workshop was organized with five experienced professionals that told about their career and gave advise on how to get the first job. The plan is to sponsor several activities of student associations in return for visibility of NBV. New, up-to-date promo material will be designed to be used to approach students and other potential new members.
