About NBV Workshop CRISPR/cas

NBV Workshop CRISPR/cas

CRISPR/cas: a revolutionary or just another tool for engineering yeast and fungi?

Clustered Regularly Interspaced Short Palindromic Repeats, in short CRISPR, were originally discovered as part of an adaptive immune system in bacteria protecting them from genome modifications caused by viral infections. Interestingly, now the underlying molecular system has evolved into a very powerful tool to actually promote gene modifications up to the level of unprecedently accurate gene editing in bacteria and many other organisms including yeast and filamentous fungi. In this workshop myths and magic of this new tool will be discussed.
