On behalf of the Dutch Biotechnology Association (NBV), the European Federation of Biotechnology (EFB), the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC), the Asian Federation of Biotechnology (AFOB) and the other organising committee members and partners, we warmly invite you to participate in the 2020 European Congress on Biotechnology (ECB2020), which will be held in the beautiful city of Maastricht, the Netherlands.
Though small in surface area, the Netherlands definitely is a major player in biotechnology, owing its success to a great academic backbone, an entrepreneurial spirit, a remarkable talent to get things organized and a natural ability to cooperate. Wageningen University, strongly represented in the organizing committee, is playing a pivotal role in the Dutch Biotech landscape, connecting fundamental research with direct applied science. Its motto “to explore the potential of nature to improve the quality of life” is also at the basis of the many research lines that have strong connection to biotechnology, from emerging fields as bionanotechnology, to pioneering fundamental research on genome editing, to large-scale algae production plants.
